  • Society of Professional Journalists
  • North American Guild of Beer Writers

I produce a prolific and popular beer news and information blog: the Washington Beer Blog. I also write for local, regional and national magazines. I am a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, the North American Guild of Beer Writers, and am an associate member of both the Brewers Association and the Washington Brewers Guild. In 2018, I launched Washington Beer Pod, a podcast to accompany the blog.

I was named One of Seattle’s Most Influential People of 2014, which I attribute to the growing popularity of good beer. Still, I’m honored to make the list.

While most people know me as the primary author of the Washington Beer Blog, I also write beer and travel stories for print publications. Increasingly, I am called upon to write about my other areas of expertise, primarily travel, food and wine. Most notably, I write regularly for Seattle magazine, Sip Northwest magazine, and other regional magazines, but am always interested in expanding my audience beyond the Pacific Northwest and have written for national publications like Beer Advocate, Celebrator Beer News, and USA TODAY.

In addition to writing about beer, I am available to host corporate and private beer tasting events for your company, organization or party. Also, I am available for media appearances, have significant broadcast experience, and even appeared on NBC’s The Today Show.
